- Non-locals living in Jammu for one year can now register as voters. The order was issued by Jammu DC to facilitate registration of non-locals. The order has drawn sharp criticism from the Cong and other Jammu-based parties. The opposition has termed it an attack on identity. However, J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina said that the registration of new voters was purely done in accordance with the constitution of India. The special summary revision of electoral rolls will be completed by Oct 24. The final electoral roll is expected to be published on November 25.
