Passengers cry for help in chilling video as ferry crashes with large boat

- Tragedy unfolded in Assam after two boats carrying over 100 people collided in Brahmaputra river. Horrifying visuals show desperate people trying to swim as the boats sink in water. A boat with more than 100 people onboard capsized in Brahmaputra river in Assam. Overnight search, rescue operations established contacts with 84 people who have been rescued. Officials informed that a person died following the accident while many others are still missing. The boat capsized near Nimati Ghat in Jorhat district after a collision with another boat. Wreckage of the boat was found overturned around 1.5 km downstream of the Brahmaputra. Search operation is still going on with divers from NDRF & SDRF with backup of the Army. 11 passengers were admitted to the hospital, of whom one died & three were discharged. Deceased was identified as Parimita Das, who hailed from Guwahati & was working in Majuli. Officials said the private boat which capsized was heading to Majuli from Nimati Ghat. Initial estimate of passengers onboard varied from 80 to 150 as per eyewitness accounts.
