'Quad is no ganging up': EAM Jaishankar's subtle message to China

• EAM S Jaishankar strongly condemned China's attempts to give QUAD a negative slant. In a subtle message, Jaishankar said QUAD is a peaceful resolution & is not against anybody. Calling China a 'big player', Jaishankar said QUAD shouldn't be seen as 'ganging up' against anyone. The EAM was speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum Annual Leadership Summit. “The QUAD is for things, it's not against somebody,” he said. EAM's message comes just days after PM Modi's first in-person QUAD meeting in Washington. Earlier, Beijing had tried to frame the QUAD grouping as China-centric. A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson had said QUAD nations were inciting the 'China threat' theory. The QUAD grouping comprises India, the United States, Australia & Japan.
