On Day Putin Filed Nomination, Opponent Navalny's 'Disappearance' Announced In Court | Russia Polls

Russia’s jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny has reportedly disappeared. Navalny’s lawyers said he hasn’t contacted them since December 6, and Russian courts have now halted new criminal cases against him till he’s found. Navalny, a staunch critic of Putin, was poisoned in Russia in 2020, and was arrested in 2021 on fraud and extremism charges. Navalny’s disappearance comes in wake of 2024 Russian presidential elections in which Putin is seeking his 5th term.
