Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has urged European nations to strengthen unity and pool resources amid rising geopolitical tensions and growing concern over the United States’ proposed acquisition of Greenland. Speaking on Europe’s global role, Sánchez stressed the need for deeper EU integration, stronger defence cooperation, and expanded global partnerships to protect sovereignty and competitiveness. He criticised Washington for undermining international law and warned that Europe could respond with proportional tariffs if necessary. Emphasising solidarity, Sánchez said the future of Greenland belongs to its people and Denmark, calling on the EU to act decisively as a unified global power.
