Protests outside the Trincomalee naval base after reports suggested ex-Sri Lanka Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and some family members' presence. This morning, police fired tear gas & warning shots in the air to hold back mobs as security forces moved Mahinda Rajapaksa & family members out of 'Temple Trees'. Protesters even attempted to tear down the gates of 'Temple Trees', the two-storey colonial-era building that serves as the Lankan PM's official residence. Protesters set ablaze the Rajapaksas' ancestral home in the southern Hambantota district, along with dozens of other buildings belonging to his loyalists.
