US army's secret panic over Putin's Burevestnik nuclear missile: $175000000000 loss haunts Trump?

Russia’s latest nuclear-powered cruise missile, Burevestnik, has ignited global fears and rattled Washington. President Vladimir Putin hailed the missile’s first long-range test, calling it unmatched in the West. Powered by a miniature nuclear reactor, the missile can reportedly fly for weeks without refueling, striking targets from virtually any direction on Earth. Analysts warn the weapon could bypass Donald Trump’s proposed $175 billion “Golden Dome” missile shield, a system designed for high-trajectory ICBMs, not low-flying missiles like Burevestnik. The Kremlin claims the missile can evade anti-aircraft and anti-missile defenses, posing a major challenge to U.S. strategic deterrence. Unveiled in 2018 during Trump’s first term, Burevestnik has been in development since the U.S. withdrew from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in 2002. Experts believe the system could become Moscow’s new bargaining chip in arms-control talks, just as the New START treaty nears expiry in 2026.
