Why Jasprit Bumrah Was Not Selected For India’s Champions Trophy Squad Despite Completing Rehab

India faces a major setback ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out due to a lower back injury. The BCCI has named KKR pacer Harshit Rana as his replacement in the squad. Additionally, spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has secured a spot in the 15-member squad after his stellar performance in the recent T20I series against England, where he picked up 14 wickets. However, his inclusion has come at the cost of young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been relegated to the non-traveling reserves along with Mohammed Siraj and Shivam Dube. Reports suggest that while Bumrah completed his rehabilitation, the NCA medical team was uncertain about his bowling fitness in time for the tournament. The final call was made by chief selector Ajit Agarkar, in consultation with head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma. Will Bumrah’s absence hurt India’s chances at the Champions Trophy?
