'Why should Maduro fear you? ': Reporter asks Trump amid Venezuela attack threats but no action yet

Published on Dec 23, 2025 07:55 am IST

Donald Trump said he has spoken with “the big” American oil companies about a post‑Maduro Venezuela and restarting operations there, framing his approach as a sharp break from prior administrations that he claimed “didn’t mind being ripped off” or having “drugs pouring into our country.” He argued that Venezuelan prisons and the Tren de Aragua gang had “emptied” into the U.S., “taking over Colorado and other places,” and insisted that, unlike his predecessor, he “minds” and has restored U.S. “respect” through tougher policy.
