Two people were killed & 16 others injured in an explosion in Pakistan's Lahore. Blast occurred at a short distance from LeT founder Hafiz Saeed’s residence in Johar Town. Reports suggest that the blast went off at a house located about 120 metres from Saeed’s home. Lahore police chief Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said two of the injured died in Jinnah Hospital. Hafiz Saeed, who is currently in jail in Lahore, was arrested & convicted last year. Saeed was arrested in a string of cases related to his involvement in terror financing. Dogar added that the incident appeared to be a 'bomb blast' but the probe was underway. As per media reports, women, children & a police official were among the injured. Visuals showed the facade of the building & several vehicles suffered extensive damage. Many nearby houses were also damaged and a police & bomb squad soon reached the site. Punjab province CM Usman Buzdar sought a report on the incident from the provincial police chief. Buzdar also expressed condolences to the families of the blast victims on Twitter. Pakistan’s interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also sought a report on the incident. Ahmed took to twitter & said that federal agencies were assisting the Punjab government in the probe.
