American student detained by North Korea dies at 22

Otto Warmbier, the Ohio student that was detained by North Korea and returned last week in a coma has died. He was released more than 17 months after being detained by North Korean authorities for alleged 'anti-state activity.' His parents said they learned only a week earlier that their son had been in a coma since he was last seen in public in March 2016. The University of Virginia student had gone to North Korea as a tourist, and was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour after tearfully confessing he had tried to steal a propaganda banner.
