‘China hiring contract hackers for cyber attack’: US govt on Microsoft case

- US, UK, and EU accused China of carrying out an attack on Microsoft exchange’s servers early this year. In the press briefing of the U.S. State Department, Spokesperson Ned Price said that the country has fostered an intelligence enterprise that includes contract hackers, who also conduct unsanctioned cyber operations worldwide, including for their own personal profit. While Beijing has on many occasions denied allegations of hacking and said that it opposes all forms of cybercrime.
