- US president Joe Biden said China, Pakistan, Russia, Iran are trying to figure out what to do now with the Taliban. He added that China has a 'real problem' with the insurgent group in Afghanistan. Biden's remark comes hours after the Taliban announced details of its interim govt ruling Kabul. The US president was responding to a reporter's question about the Taliban getting funding from China. “China has a real problem with the Taliban. They try to work out some of that with the Taliban, I am sure. As does Pakistan, as does Russia, as does Iran. They are all trying to figure out what they do now. So let's wait and see what happens. It will be interesting to see what happens,” he said. The Taliban on Tuesday unveiled a hardline interim government led by Mullah Mohammad Hasan Akhund. Key roles are being shared by high-profile members of the group, including Sirajuddin Haqqani. Sirajuddin, the new interior minister, is a designated global terrorist of the dreaded Haqqani Network.
