Hong Kong: Protestors lob petrol bombs, police retaliate with tear gas

Updated on Mar 01, 2020 08:35 pm IST

Violent protests were witnessed in the global financial hub of Hong Kong, on Sunday. Demonstrators lobbed petrol bombs at government offices, while police tried to control the crowd with tear gas shells and water cannons. Protests have been going on in Hong Kong for over three months now. The demonstrations began initially with opposition to a bill, which proposed extradition of criminal suspects to mainland China. The bill was fully withdrawn recently. But now the demands of the protestors include greater democratic rights and an investigation into alleged police brutality.
