In an address to supporters after his victory in the presidential polls, Emmanuel Macron promised to work towards unity. Speaking in particular to those who voted for Le Pen, Macron said he was a president for all. He said, "I also know that many of our compatriots voted for me today, not to support the ideas I put forward, but to block those of the extreme right. I want to thank them and tell them that I am aware that this vote binds me for the years to come. I am the guardian of their sense of duty, their attachment to the Republic and their respect for the differences that have been expressed in recent weeks." Macron added, "Finally, I speak to all those who voted for Madame Le Pen, who are disappointed this evening. No, don't boo anybody, I have always asked you not to boo. Because, from now on, I am no longer a candidate of one side, but the president of all." Watch the full video for more.
