Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared that a multipolar world order is becoming an “irreversible” reality, arguing that the era of a few powerful states determining global affairs is coming to an end. Addressing the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Putin called for deeper trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation with African nations, while highlighting Russia’s historical support for the continent’s independence movements. He also urged African countries to gain greater control over their natural resources and direct revenues towards long-term investment in energy, industry, transport and logistics, as Moscow seeks to strengthen its ties across Africa.
