Russia is reportedly using a new version of its jet-powered Geran-5 strike drone as Moscow continues to upgrade its long-range weapons against Ukraine. The new variant, referred to by monitoring sources as the Geran-5 K5, may use an autonomous optical navigation system that allows it to follow terrain even when satellite navigation is disrupted. Reports also suggest a redesigned fuselage and higher speed. Ukraine has not yet officially confirmed the K5 designation or the reported optical system. If confirmed, could Putin’s latest drone upgrade make Russia’s attacks even harder for Ukrainian air defences to stop?
