'Right to defend': US backs Israel as it continues to pound Gaza; 2 dozens dead

• Fear of mideast conflict escalates as Israel continues to pound Gaza city. Huge clouds of smoke & debris, ambulances rushed through the streets as Israeli fighter jets struck at least 4 buildings linked to militant outfit Islamic jihad. Gaza's health ministry said 24 people had been killed so far, including six children. Its ally the US has supported Israel's action saying Jerusalem has all the right to defend itself.
