Scottish party MPs whistle ‘Ode to Joy’ during Brexit vote

Updated on Feb 10, 2017 03:22 pm IST

Scottish National Party (SNP) MPs whistled Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' during a vote in the British parliament on legislation allowing Prime Minister Theresa May to trigger Britain's exit from the European Union. Lindsay Hoyle, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, requested the MPs stop their choral message as lawmakers returned to the chamber to hear the result. The bill now needs the approval of the upper chamber, in which May does not have a majority before it becomes law.
