UAE to recognise Taliban? Emirates President hosts Mullah Omar's son, other Islamist leaders

Taliban's acting defense minister Mullah Yaqoob met the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan for talks in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Yaqoob is the son of the late supreme leader of the Taliban - Mullah Omar. The Afghan defense ministry released a statement saying that the two leaders discussed strengthening ties and bilateral cooperation in the meeting which took place on Sunday. Remember, the Taliban administration has not been recognized by any government since the Islamists swept to power last year.
