U.S. pulls troops from Romania after Burevestnik test, Pentagon calls it routine

Following Russia’s confirmed test of its nuclear-capable Burevestnik missile, Washington has begun a partial troop drawdown from NATO’s eastern flank — pulling the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 101st Airborne Division out of Romania. The Pentagon called the move a “rebalancing of global posture,” denying that it represents a withdrawal or reduced commitment to NATO or Article 5. Roughly 1,000 American troops will remain stationed in Romania, while U.S. bases and air defense systems there will continue to function normally. Watch for details
