- Around 200 passengers including Americans reached Doha after flying from Kabul airport. This was the first flight, on Thursday, ferrying out foreigners since a U.S. evacuation ended. In days that followed Taliban's blitz, the airport had become a symbol of people's desperation. While thousands were crowding around its gates, some were even clinging to jets as they took off. Doha said it worked with Turkey to swiftly resume operations at Kabul's airport to allow flow of people and aid. U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken thanked Qatari Depuy PM for facilitating departure of US citizens from Kabul. The flight to Doha comes as Taliban continue their transition from insurgents to governing power. Taliban marched into Kabul less than a month & ousted former president Ashraf Ghani. On August 31, U.S. forces left Afghanistan marking the end to a chaotic exit from America's longest war.
