BRICS could sign agreement to promote own currencies: Menon

India's National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon on Tuesday at Sanya said that India is optimistic about the member countries signing an agreement to promote individual currencies for credit purposes at the upcoming BRICS summit. Asserting that it was the first time such a proposal had been made by the member nations, he said discussions were on over the feasibility of the shift from the traditional US dollar to local currencies for trade.
