Eight dead in suicide attack in Islamabad
Updated on Apr 05, 2009 07:51 pm IST
Violence rocked nuclear-armed Pakistan on Saturday when a lone suicide bomber killed eight soldiers when he attacked a paramilitary security post in the Pakistani capital. Firing was heard soon after the blast but a senior police official told reporters near the scene that it had come from paramilitary soldiers firing in reaction to the blast, not in an exchange with gunmen. Police cordoned off the area in the heart of the city, near a shopping zone.
