Floods leave trail of devastation in Nepal
Updated on Aug 30, 2008 08:59 pm IST
The Nepalese Army resumes a rescue mission as floods caused by torrential rains have struck havoc across India, Bangladesh and Nepal and left millions displaced. The flooding, which officials say is the worst in 50 years, was caused after the Kosi river broke a dam in Nepal where it originates, unleashing huge waves of water that smashed mud embankments downstream in Bihar. The waters in Nepal have receded but bridges remain down and roads inaccessible.
