US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee met on March 24 at Washington and took stock of the landmark civilian nuclear deal stuck in a muddle of mounting opposition from Indian Communists. India's government and its communist allies last week failed to break a deadlock over the controversial nuclear deal with the US but said they would meet again next month to discuss the pact.
