Updated on Apr 11, 2008 10:48 pm IST
At 1.7 million pounds the dagger which once belonged to Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor who built the Taj Mahal found a new owner on Thursday. The dagger that was bought by a collector for less than a thousand dollars in the 1960's fetched over three times the predicted price at the fall of the hammer. Most of the action was on the eight banks of telephones, as other bidders in the room gave up at 1.4 million pounds.
