Watch | An artificial island made of trash
Updated on Apr 02, 2016 06:24 pm IST
British artist, Richard Sowa lives on a floating artificial island made from thousands of plastic bottles in the waters off Isla Mujeres, near the Mexican resort city of Cancun. Richard says the island is a way of turning the trash of the world into a paradise. The island is now covered with mangroves and he is planning to plant palm trees. Solar panels power the house, where he has running water, a fridge and a compost bathroom, among other amenities.
