Just two days after this image was taken, five-month-old Udai Faisal died from extreme hunger. Saudi Arabia and its allies, backed by the US, launched a campaign of airstrikes and a naval blockade a year ago, and malnutrition has become the most horrific consequence ever since.

Udai was one of more than than 1.3 million under-fives suffering from malnutrition in the war-torn country. Shortage in food, medicines and basic supplies are crippling life. In the first three months of this year, around 150 children have come to the hospital suffering from malnutrition and around 15 have died. Even more alarming are the rates of severe acute malnutrition among children - which have doubled in a year, according to UNICEF estimates.
