Ukraine is preparing President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the United States in November as Kyiv faces intense pressure over Donald Trump’s revised peace plan. After Geneva’s high-stakes negotiations between the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine, Zelensky confirmed that several “sensitive” issues will only be discussed directly with Trump. Washington has pushed Kyiv to accept a framework that includes ceding Donetsk and Luhansk to Russia and significantly reducing the size of the Ukrainian army—conditions Ukraine has called unacceptable. Despite the backlash, U.S. and Ukrainian officials say they have now produced a “refined peace framework” after days of pushback.
