    Amidst an unprecedented diplomatic row between India and Canada, the Canadian Trade Minister has assured the country’s business community that they are committed to supporting the well-established commercial ties between the two countries.

    Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, made these remarks on Tuesday as tensions between India and Canada escalated after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday accused the Indian government of supporting criminal activities targeting Canadian citizens.

    India Canada row live updates: The United States said on Tuesday that India is not cooperating with Canada on the latter’s investigation into the killing of a Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year.

    “When it comes to the Canadian matter, we have made clear that the allegations are extremely serious and they need to be taken seriously. We wanted to see the government of India cooperate with Canada in its investigation. Obviously, they have not chosen that path,” said US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller.
