As the conflict between the United States and Iran continues, Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that Tehran is facing "many problems". As per the Iranian leader, these problems come due to the US’ fresh wave of sanctions against Iran.
US President Donald Trump announced the “most crushing economic operation” earlier this week which would target countries helping Iran in any way.
“This will be an economic D-DAY, and we need all of our Allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
Iran admits country ‘facing many problems’
In a speech to state television on Sunday, Pezeshkian acknowledged Iran was facing problems due to the strict economic sanctions.
"We are striving with all our hearts to overcome inflation, livelihood problems, unemployment, and to secure the future of the people, so that they can live with dignity and pride," Pezeshkian was quoted as saying by news agency AFP.
During this speech, the Iranian president added that a memorandum of understanding with the US was the “only way out of the conflict.”

"There is not a single provision in this agreement that amounts to capitulation. The supreme leader sets the policies, and we will follow that path,” said Pezeshkian.
This statement from the president also comes after Iran warned Trump of “seismic action” if economic sanctions were imposed against countries friendly towards Iran.
"If (Trump) wants to do something, we will retaliate in a seismic manner," said Mohsen Rezaei, the hard-line new leader of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
