Pakistan caretaker cabinet sworn in

The six-member caretaker federal cabinet will oversee Pakistan’s upcoming general election.

A six-member caretaker federal cabinet, which will oversee Pakistan’s upcoming general election, was sworn in at a ceremony held in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Former ambassador to the UN Abdullah Hussain Haroon will serve as foreign and defence minister. A former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Shamshad Akhtar, was given the portfolio of finance and commerce.

Former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary Azam Khan was given charge of the interior ministry while a former minister in the Pakistan People’s Party government, Zafar Ali Shah, was given the law and information portfolios.

Mohammad Yusuf Shaikh was given charge of education while Roshan Khursheed Bharucha will oversee the human rights ministry and Kashmir and frontier affairs.
