President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that the American flags at all state institutions will be flown at half-mast in honor of his close ally, Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on Wednesday afternoon.
President Trump announced the decision to keep the flags at half-mast till Sunday, September 14, till 6 p.m.
“In honor of Charlie Kirk, a truly Great American Patriot, I am ordering all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M,” Trump wrote on Truth social.
Charlie Kirk was shot at UVU while he was interacting with the attendees at the 'America Comeback Tour' when a single shot to his neck killed him. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injury. It was President Donald Trump who first broke the news of Kirk's death.

Manhunt On For Suspect: What we know
An active manhunt is on for the suspect in the shooting of Charlie Kirk. The FBI continues to examine various leads, including inputs from foreign intelligence agencies, the agency's director, Kash Patel, wrote on X.
Patel said earlier that the FBI brought in two persons of interest, but they were released after a preliminary probe showed that they were not related to the assassination of Kirk.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve and their two children.
