UPDATE: One person was killed and another injured following a home explosion in the McCormick Street and Rossiter Street area of Detroit, Michigan. The incident occurred just before 3:50 p.m. on Saturday.
According to officials speaking to WXYZ, firefighters discovered one deceased individual after excavating the site of the explosion. A second person was hospitalized with burn injuries.
The blast also damaged two nearby homes, though no one was inside those residences at the time. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown. Local emergency scanners reported that two people were inside the house that exploded and one of them has been transported to a hospital for treatment.
Witness reports:
One Facebook user wrote, “That explains I saw black smokey in the air on 94. Hope no body gets hurt.”
Another added, “They still don't know what caused the explosion in Southgate. DTE said it wasn't them, even though they had just redone the gas lines 2 weeks prior to it. Hoping everyone is safe.”
A third person wrote, “Beaconsfield and McCormick elderly man house exploded. Oxygen tanks im guessing they was trying to gettem out.”
