US President Donald Trump has canceled plans to hold a rare Cabinet meeting at Camp David on Wednesday, shifting the gathering back to the White House as tensions surrounding ongoing Iran negotiations continue to escalate.
Earlier Tuesday, multiple reports indicated that Trump would host his entire Cabinet at the presidential retreat in Maryland in what would have been an unusual Camp David Cabinet session.
However, Trump later announced on Truth Social that the Camp David trip was being called off because of “possible bad weather conditions.”
The meeting will now take place at the White House instead.
Iran expected to dominate discussions
The Cabinet meeting comes at a critical moment for the administration as peace negotiations with Iran appear increasingly fragile following renewed hostilities earlier this week.
The White House had previously signaled optimism about a possible agreement with Iran, with Trump recently claiming that a peace deal was “largely negotiated.”
But tensions rose again after the US launched what officials described as “defensive” strikes in southern Iran on Monday.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes, saying they violated the ceasefire and warning that the United States would be responsible for the consequences of the attacks.
Trump also intensified his rhetoric on social media, demanding that Iran hand over its “nuclear dust.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged Tuesday that negotiations could still take time.

Reuters reported last week that Gabbard had been sidelined during the administration’s handling of the Iran conflict and was being “forced out” by White House staffers. The White House has not publicly commented on those claims.
According to The Hill, Wednesday’s discussions are also expected to include updates on the economy, small business initiatives, the administration’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud and foreign policy developments.
