Andy Isaac, a devoted Detroit Lions fan, has died at 44 after a 19-year battle with cancer.

Andy Isaac, a huge Detroit Lions fan, has passed away at the age of 44 after battling with cancer for the last 19 years. Several fellow sports fans and friends flooded social media, honouring Isaac’s legacy.

“Andy passed away peacefully this morning beside his loving family,” his family stated in an X statement. “We thank you all for your support and love over the years. This was a genuine space of laughter and kindness. Please carry this spirit on in honor of Andy.”

“As always, Faturday forever and FTB,” the statement concluded.

Just a month before his passing, Isaac shared an emotional farewell message with his followers. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006 and began writing shortly after, per The Athletic.

“Having cancer since 2006 has finally taken its toll on me. It has finally stripped me of quality of life,” he wrote.

“I have decided on hospice care. Life has been a struggle these last few months and years. I hope I can find some peace in hospice. I may keep a journal of my final days.”

“I’m not sure yet. I’m tired and I’m in pain. I have a horrible foot infection that is preventing me from walking, and I just don’t have the strength to do all the last-minute things I want. But I’ll try,” he added.

“I hope I gave you all a positive outlook on life. I hope I made even the smallest impact. Be kind to each other. I love you all. Truly, I do.”

Over the years, he became very well-known in the sports community, using his humour and passion for connecting with fellow fans of the Detroit Lions, Pistons, Tigers, Red Wings, and Michigan State University teams.

Since joining X in 2009, he posted nearly 50,000 times, writing “for sports, for the Lions and for the Pistons and for the Tigers and for MSU and so on.”
