Charlie Kirk was shot on Wednesday at an event at Utah Valley University in Orem on Wednesday. A spokesperson confirmed reports of the shooting in a statement to Fox News. The report further added that Kirk has been hospitalized.

"Charlie Kirk has been shot at Utah Valley University. Condition unknown," the spokesperson told the outlet.

Videos from the scene showed Kirk addressing a crowd when a loud crack, sounding like a gunshot, rang out. The MAGA influencer was then seen briefly moving his hand to his neck as he fell off his chair, sending the attendees running.

"A shot was fired from a nearby building and we have a suspect in custody," a university spokesperson told Reuters in an email.

"We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University," FBI Director Kash Patel said on X. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected.”

"We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot," Trump said on X, platform formerly known as Twitter. "A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!"

Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro, another Democrat and potential national candidate, said, “We must speak with moral clarity. The attack on Charlie Kirk is horrifying and this growing type of unconscionable violence cannot be allowed in our society.”

Republican Senate Leader John Thune of South Dakota posted: “There is no place in our country for political violence. Period, full stop.”

Meanwhile, social media users wondered: ‘Why was Charlie Kirk shot?’ We do not know the motive behind the shooting yet.

“The shooter is in custody and we will find out motive soon,” one person tweeted.

“Can’t wait for the regime media to claim we don’t know the motive behind the Charlie Kirk shooting,” another one added.
