Diyala police spokesman Maj. Ghalib Al-Karkhi says the bomb went off at about 7:30 a.m. as the children were heading to school Sunday morning in an area around 75 miles (120 kilometers north) of the capital. He says two of those killed were brothers. Al-Karkhi says the children were between ages 8 and 12. Violence has plummeted across Iraq since its height in 2006 and 2007 but attacks continue, especially in the country's north.
