Panetta will travel to Pakistan from India as part of the second phase of his tour to South Asia, IRNA reported. This was his first foreign visit after becoming the CIA chief.

In Islamabad, he will meet Pakistan army chief, general Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Ahmad Shujaa Pasha and Interior Ministry advisor Rehman Malik.

Panetta will discuss the war on terror, the Pakistan-Afghanistan border situation, the Mumbai terror attack and other issues with Pakistan.
