US District Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer handed down the sentence yesterday to Donald McGuire.
The length of the sentence means the 78-year-old former priest will likely die in prison.
His victims and their families testified before the sentencing that they felt guilty because they hadn't come forward sooner.
A federal jury in October found McGuire guilty of taking a minor across state lines for sex. He also was convicted in neighbouring Wisconsin for child molestation and sentenced to seven years in prison.
