Baroness Thatcher was taken by ambulance to the private Cromwell Hospital in West London on Tuesday night after suffering from an infection, believed to be linked to the flue she had last week.

Her son, Sir Mark Thatcher, who visited the hospital said "she is in good spirits".

"Her condition is not serious but that she will remain in hospital for a few days as tests were carried out.

"She's been recovering quite well but the doctors wanted to bring her into hospital for some routine tests over the next couple of days," he said.
