Hamas chief kisses Gaza soil on first visit

Hamas leader in exile Khaled Meshaal crossed into the Gaza Strip today for his first-ever visit to the Palestinian territory, an AFP correspondent reported.

Hamas leader in exile Khaled Meshaal crossed into the Gaza Strip on Friday for his first-ever visit to the Palestinian territory, an AFP correspondent reported.

Accompanied by his deputy, Mussa Abu Marzuk, and other senior officials, Meshaal drove through the crossing and then got out and kissed the ground before embracing Gaza's Hamas prime minister Ismail Haniya.
