"The president will be sworn in next Wednesday, August 5," Hamid Reza Haji-Babai told Mehr news agency, adding that Ahmadinejad is obliged to unveil his cabinet within two weeks of that day.

Under Iranian law, the president has to be officially endorsed in a ceremony by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei before being sworn in.

Khamenei has strongly backed Ahmadinejad's re-election and dismissed vote-rigging allegations by the opposition spearheaded by the president's main challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Iran has been plunged into its worst crisis in three decades with massive street protests and deadly clashes with security forces over the disputed re-election of Ahmadinejad.
