The Welikada police station in Colombo suburbs has started accepting entries in Tamil yesterday for convenience
of the language-speaking people.

A senior police officer said the facility would soon be opened at other police stations in the region.

Rajapaksa had recently directed policemen to be trained in Tamil. The government's move in the capital has come in the
wake of hundreds of Tamils coming to Colombo in search of livelihood after fleeing the country's war-torn north.
