Seeking resolution of the Kashmir issue for "lasting peace", Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said Pakistani people were "disappointed" that US Special Envoy Richard Holbrooke's mandate did not include India and hoped the Obama Administration would review the matter.
There was "disappointment" among the people of the country that the mandate of Holbrooke, the US Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan, did not include India, he said.
The Pakistan Prime Minister expressed hope that the Administration of new US President Barack Obama would review this matter.
There would be no "lasting peace" in the region till "core issues" like Kashmir are resolved, he said addressing an official function here to mark the 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' observed by Pakistan on February 5 every year.
"Till the unresolved core issues are settled, there can be no progress and the region will not have lasting peace," he said.
Gilani expressed Pakistan's "political, diplomatic and moral" support for the Kashmir issue and said it must be settled according to the UN resolutions and the "wishes" of the Kashmiri people.
The world should take note of the Kashmir and Palestine issues, he said.
