US President Barack Obama on Wednesday condemned the ISIS militants who beheaded an American journalist as “a cancer” and said “their ideology is bankrupt.”
“The whole world is appalled by the brutal murder of James Foley,” Obama said, speaking a day after the militants released a video of Foley being beheaded.
As the brutal beheading of Foley sent shockwaves around the world, there seemed to be more worries for another US journalist Steven Sotloff.
Many fear that Sotloff’s life may be at risk as the video by the Islamic State of The Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) titled ‘A Message To America’ curtly said that Sotloff’s life depended on how the US acts in Iraq.

Europe’s top powers swiftly condemned Foley’s killing, with France warning the world faced the “most serious international situation” since 2001. Rights group Amnesty International said the execution-style killing was a “war crime”.
