Pakistan reinstates suspended top judge

The decision is seen as a big blow to Musharraf who has been ruling unchallenged for the past eight years.

Pakistan's Supreme Court on Friday ruled that the country's top judge Iftikhar Chaudhry, suspended by President Pervez Musharraf, should be restored to office.

"The reference has been set aside and the chief justice has been reinstated," Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday, the head of the 13-member bench, said at the conclusion of the two-month-old case.

The ruling is seen as a big blow to Musharraf who has ruled the country without any serious challenge over the past eight years.
