A controversy over the revision of the examination result of Pakistan's Chief Justice's daughter has sparked a confrontation between the ruling PPP and opposition PML-N, with the two parties exchanging angry words on the issue.
PML-N chief and former premier Nawaz Sharif has described the case of Chief Justice Abdul Hamid Dogar's daughter as an example of the poor governance since the PPP-led government came to power in March.
Sharif also claimed the government approached him through an unnamed intermediary and offered to get a favourable judgement in court cases related to his eligibility to contest polls if he kept silent on the issue of Dogar's daughter. He said he turned down the offer.
The PML-N chief broadened his criticism of the government when he questioned its handling of the fallout of the Mumbai terror attacks and alleged airspace violation by Indian jets.
Sharif asked whey Pakistani security agencies had cordoned off the village of Ajmal Amir Iman, the lone terrorist captured during the Mumbai incident, and why it had sought to play down the alleged airspace violation as a "technical incursion".
