Quake hits Indonesia's Sumatra island: USGS

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted southwest of Sumatra island in Indonesia today, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted southwest of Sumatra island in Indonesia on Saturday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck at 5.31am, Xinhua reported.

The quake's epicentre, with a depth of 35 km, was initially determined to be at 7.1944 degrees south latitude and 103.7913 degrees east longitude.
